BLOG #8: LOOKING BACK

Looking back on Limerick Voice, it was a fun assignment and I’m happy with all the work I contributed. It’s a shame that COVID limited the events and activities going on in the area, making it harder to find things to report on. As Deputy Video and Photo Editor, I feel there were a lot of missed opportunities here as the amount of video and photo content received by Limerick Voice was quite limited but I think we all made the most out of the circumstances.

I loved getting to incorporate some of my other interests into this module such as the digital art programme, Procreate when creating videos. I really enjoyed experimenting with video editing. Since doing the video editing module with Fergal, I have had a great love for Final Cut Pro and have the software on my laptop so I always love when projects come up that I can bring this into.

It was great getting to collaborate with some of my peers on content for Limerick Voice. Collaborations are something I’ve never really done before so it was interesting learning the dynamic of co-working on creative pieces such as the video interview I did with Zoha featuring illustration artist, Leah Rowe. My current job is in content creation, making Instagram content for a fashion accessories brand and it’s something I quite enjoy doing and would be an area I’d like to continue working in as a side job so doing little projects like this that can build on that experience is always something I enjoy.

I’m also pleased that I started working on this blog at the start of the semester as I feel it really has worked to function; reflecting on my work and what I’ve learned as I went along,

I must say we were lead by great editors who gave excellent direction and feedback all the way through. I loved getting introduced to Trello, I’ve created my own personal board that I use for my own planning and work and it’s such a useful tool.

Overall, I think Limerick Voice was a great success and hopefully next semester will be the same!
